Youth and citizens of all age group actively participated in yesterday march 20th July, to Parliament (Sansad Chalo). Cockroach Janta Party announced a massive protest against alleged NEET eɛamination paper leak on 20 July and urging all citizens to participate in the protest as it concerned the future of innocent youth and the nation. Sonam Wangchuk has been on ‘Ansan’ since 28 June, and on 17 July Delhi Police forcibly took him to Sarfdjung Hospital. He urged from hospital to people to join 20 July protest. Delhi Police’s commissioner rejected the reɔuest for march to Parliament under section 144, which prohibit large gathering in high security zones.
People actively participated from different regions of India, travelled thousand kilometres only to join the protest. Students from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar actively joined the demonstration. Around 50,000 thousand people participated in the protest including child, youth and old. The demonstration was not only limited to students; all age groups contribute peacefully by performing dramas, play, dance, banners and song.
According to allegation made by protesters, the Delhi police tries different unsuccessful measures to stop the march. During the peaceful protest Delhi Police tries to stop the protest by putting barricades and sealing them so that protestors could not move forward. Several tear gas shells continuously thrown at the protesters by the police around 6 round to disperse the crowd. Delhi Police lathi charge to protester including men, women, children and old people, showed no mercy to them. Many people sustained injuries bloodshed all over and many hospitalised, and Video circulating allegedly show women being beaten, tearing their cloth by Delhi police, and instances of harassment by police personnel.
It has been alleged that many policeman does not have name plates and were wearing sports shoes instead of prescribed uniform, showing that they hired for execution to stop the protest through force and some were also without police worthy having lathis in their hand and also beat people. In a democratic country like India police itself not following the rules and regulations how it can expect from others to follow the order. Numerous videos and instagram reels related to protest have gone viral on social media allegedly depicting these incidents.n12 year old girl suffering physical injury in her head and a police man put his leg on a girl chest.
Delhi Police stated that protesters refused to leave the site despite being given sufficient time and they throw stones at them. According to police they were compelled to use force to bring the situation under control.
Eventually Abhijeet Dipke announced to call off the march because of heavy lathi charge and reported misbehaviour to women. He said that these children have come long way here to protest by relying on me how i can let them hurt themselves. He also announced that Sonam Sir decided to continue his Ansan indefintly. Although the protest will continue till Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
This situation raise an important question, India is a democratic country where citizens have right to protest and demand accountability and resignation of any politician if needed to save the nation. People are protesting against education system and resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged NEET Eɛamination paper leak. Yesterday Delhi police violates human rights of individuals by using force and ill-treating to citizens, beating people including childrens, deploying tear gas on students who were merely protesting for their future. This is a big black blot on the democracy of India, no authority is taking accountability instead the demand of thousands students including other age group continuously ignored by the Education Minister and Prime Minister of India. PM has a duty to serve its citizens and accountable to them but PM has shut his mouth on this demonstration instead he shifted Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar to hospital without his will and using force to stop the march. This was very brutal beating people as well as doctors who reached there to help people. Such a shame on democracy in India.
