⚖️ Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the JAG entry, you must meet the following strict requirements:
1. Educational Qualification
- LLB Degree: You need a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in your LLB (either 3 years professional after graduation or 5 years integrated after 10+2).
- Bar Council Registration: You must be eligible for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India/State.
- Mandatory CLAT PG Score: Since 2023, the Army has made the CLAT PG 2025 score mandatory for the JAG 124th entry.
2. Age Limit (As of July 1, 2026)
Minimum: 21 years
Maximum: 27 years
(Note: Candidates should be born between July 2, 1999, and July 1, 2005, both dates inclusive).
Selection Process: The Road to OTA Chennai
Getting selected isn’t just about knowing the law; it’s about having “Officer Like Qualities” (OLQs).
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on their CLAT PG scores.
- SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates undergo a 5-day selection process (Psychological tests, Group tasks, and Personal Interview) at Selection Centres (Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, or Jalandhar).
- Medical Examination: Those recommended by the SSB undergo a thorough medical check-up.
- Merit List: A final merit list is prepared based on SSB marks. If you make the cut, you’ll head to the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai for 49 weeks of training.
