The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, is a significant piece of legislation in India that aims to overhaul the country’s criminal justice system by replacing the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (CrPC). The Act received the President’s assent on December 25, 2023, and came into force on July 1, 2024.
