PM Modi said that India is going to become a Vikshit Bharat by end of 2047. But are we really moving toward the goal where exam aspirant has no availability of train to travel and appear for their examination.
A massive rush emerged in Patna at Patliputra Railway Station, where students blocked the train tracks, start protesting and resorted to stone pelting. Bihar Police Prohibition Constable Exam was schedule to be held next morning, students were waiting on platform. However continuous delay of train burst the rage of students and led to a protest, chain pulling and demanding special trains. According to others some candidates who were willing to travel also removed from onboarding train. Candidates number was in a large number whereas the train capacity was 2000, it wasn’t possible to hold everyone. With their exam schedule in morning and no arrangement of trains fill raged in the youth who later refused to be in peace and hundreds of candidates emerged on the tracks of trains and start blocking the ways of trains.
Late in night when situation came into the knowledge of Bihar District Magistrate Thiyagrajan SN they rushed to the spot, to control the situation police fire warning shots in air three times also uses tear gas but it didn’t affect. Candidates keep stone-pelting causing damage to railway property and also injured some police officers but later it was confirmed that it wasn’t severe. Thiyagrajam said that they talks to the students and situation was under control within some hours, he also added that special trains was available to them but there was some anti-social elements, so-called students around 250 students who create disrupt on platform chain pulling, stone pelting at police, damage of railway property and blocking ways of trains.
Many candidates unable to appear for Bihar Police Prohibition Constable Exam due to shortage of trains and more number of candidates. Trains were overcrowded more than it’s limit with students entering through windows of train and hanging from the doors of trains in attempt to reach the at their examination centre. East Central Railway chief Public Relation officer Saraswati Chandra said large number of candidates gathered at Patliputra Railway Station and stopped Train no. 12488 (Seemachal Express), around 150 students blocked the way of train. FIR has been lodged against 500 students and police is trying to identify more individual through recordings.
According to Chandra, 12 special trains were kept on standby at Dhanapur Division, while Samastipur division has arranged 6 more. Information of this special trains has been disseminated through social media platforms. It is alleged that students wanted regular train and some anti-social elements mixed in protests and started stone pelting.
Candidates alleged that no special train were actually provided to them, and they had to rely on regular trains which was already overcrowded. Students demand re-examination for them and they also request government for allocation of their centre in nearby areas.
It is heartbreaking to see students unable to reach their examination centre hence disqualified from exam, their hardwork and 1 year preparation all went in vain due to circumstances beyond their control. Their is immense pressure on students to get job, many are girls who struggle to get permission to study, they managed to study and appear for exam. Government should take appropriate measures to conduct exam fairly and peacefully. Sometimes paper got leaked, sometimes they didn’t get provide enough means to reach at examination centre. In a democratic government, administration fails to conduct an exam. This is not a new case each time when government exam takes place, trains get overcrowded candidates sleeps on road, temples and railways and next morning they appear for exam. This is the reality of a youth in India despite facing theses issues they had to go through shortage of transportation and exam leaks. Many videos uploaded through social media where a boy age 25 died in a overcrowded train, a girl collapsed in train due to suffocation. Where are all the funds of citizen is going if reasonable facilities are not being provided, this is a major question on administration.
