
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is a satIrical movement founded on 16 May 2026 by Abhijeet Deepke, a student of Boston University of U.S It emerged from a court proceedings of Supreme Court where a CJI of India Surya kant referred youth as “cockroaches” while hearing on a matter designation of a senior advocate on 15 May. On the same night of 15 may Abhijeet created a Instagram account named Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Within 78 hours account witness nearly 3 million followers and in 5 days it surpassed 10 million followers more than other political parties as the ruling party BJP have only 9.4 million followers. Youth started joining actively CJP while reels, memes and posts starts circulating on online platform which attract mass attention.
Background
Surya Kant while addressing a case where a young lawyer wanted to be a senior advocate CJI remarked “There are youngsters like cockroaches they don’t get any employment they don’t have any place in profession some of them becomes media some of them becomes RTI activist and some of them becomes another activist and start attacking everyone.
He refereed youth unemployed as cockroaches although on 16 May CJI clarifies that his statement only direct on people who entered into professions using “fake and bogus licence”, similarly in media and social media there are various fake licences people who works there referred as parasite. He rejected the criticism that he insulted youths of India by stating “I see youth as a pillars of a developed India”. It didn’t work because till then the video of proceedings spread all over India though online, create sensations and inspiring thousands to join satirical movement.
Membership Process
To join CJP, users were required to fill a google form of CJP which includes 3 humorous questions:
- Are u lazy?
- Are u cronically online?
- Are u identifies as cockroaches as CJI said?
These were the google form questions before joining CJP if anyone falls in any of category then it may join irrespective of religion, caste and class.
CJP Manifesto
Cockroach Janta Party releases manifesto on its website containing following proposals :-
- No CJI shall grant seat in Rajya Sabha as post- retirement award.
- If any legit vote is deleted, whether in CJP or in opposition ruled state, Central Election Commission (CEC) shall be arrested under UAPA, as taking away rights is not less than terrorism.
- Women receive 50% reservation not 33% without altering the members size of Parliament. 50% reservation in Cabinet post too.
- All media houses owned by Adani and Ambani shall have their licence cancel to make an independent pillar of media.
- Any MLAs or MPs who defect from any political party to another shall be barred from contesting election and holding any public office for period of 20 year
The manifesto of CJP addresses ground level of issue which is deterioating democracy day by day.
Social Media Restrictions and Controversies
CJP is not registered as a political party with Election Commission of India yet, it has attracted wide attention of people. After 5 days of CJP formed, on 23 May CJP X account blocked in India the reason given was that IB believed that account was posting inflammatory content, which could jeopardized country’s national security. After blocking of X I’d CJP formed another I’d names CJP is back. This is not it stopped various instagram post were reportedly removed, and also instagram account of CJP faces multiple hacking attempts. On 23 May Abhijeet twitted that he does not have any access of his CJP account and also he got death threat while also no steps has been taken by police to resolve this issues. These poses a triggered discussions on the scope of Freedom of Speech and Expression and role of satire in a democratic country.
Due to increasing paper leaks case CJP demands resignation of Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, 6 lakh cockroaches signed to the petition of demand of resignation by Dharmendra Pradhan. CJP is widely emerging across the India caughting the attention globally as CJP becomes fastly gaining so much members within days.
CJP Protest at Jantar Mantar
Yesterday on 6 June, CJP organised a protests at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education. Protestor carry a book and Tiranga. Abhijeet Deepke returned from USA to lead the demonstrations, students and youth majorly join the protest frustrated by repeated paper leaks, unemployment and treated as cockroaches and parasites of the system. They demand accountability from Ministry of Education and raised the of ‘JAI BHAIM’. Demonstrations was peaceful and it was said it’s a trailer as a larger protest going to be take place soon.
