Delhi Riots 2020 : Court Postpone Verdict in IB Officer Murder Case to June 11

The Delhi Karkardooma Court supposed to give its verdict on IB Officer Ankit Sharma brutal murder case by 11 accused including former AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain today on June 4. Additional Session Judge Praveen Kumar was hearing the most sensational case of Delhi and it postponed the pronouncement to June 11.

The case pertain to filing FIR in Dayalpur Police station by Ravinder Kumar, father of Ankit Sharma. According to the complaint deceased Ankit Kumar went out after coming from office but he did not returned back to home. Next day his family was informed by locals of founding a dead body thrown in Khajuri Khas Nala near a mosque in Chand Bagh Pulia area.

Deceased body recovered from drain having no clothes on except underwear and after the postmortem report it found that deceased was sharply stabbed 51 times on his back, stomach, chest and waist. Ankit’s face and some parts of body was burned by acid to conceal it’s identity. In the complaint by deceased’s father, he puts allegations on former AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain and it’s other acquaintance. It has been alleged that In front of the office of Tahir Hussain Ankit was brutally killed and disposed in the drain in Khajuri Khas Nala. The prosecution alleged that accused was apart of unlawful assembly and the killing was a part of NorthEast Delhi riots emerging in 2020. Ravinder Kumar alleged that firing and stone pelting was taking place during anti-CAA protest at Chand Bagh Pulia and the mob used to bomb, firing and pelted stones from the roof of office of Tahir Hussain.

On 24 march 203, Delhi Court takes charges against Tahir Hussain and other 10 accused named Javed, Gulfam, Muntajim Alias Musa, Sameer Khan, Kasim, Salma, Nasim, Firoz, Anas and Salman. Accused were charged under Indian Penal Code sec 302 murder, criminal conspiracy(120B), rioting(147 & 148), promoting rioting on religious grounds(153 A) and other charges.

It has been prosecuted that Ankit Sharma murder was a plan of Delhi riots, it was included in 53 lives that lost in the riots. today in the hearing the date of pronouncement has been postponed for 11 June, 2026.
